Hello
Welcome to Computer Science Curricula Compare! If you're looking for a fast, easy, and free way to broadly compare curriculum requirements for Computer Science, Data Science, and Computer Engineering majors at different universities, we're here to help.
We're excited to launch our project that focuses on Computer Science, Data Science, and Computer Engineering as undergraduate majors. We are working hard to expand our research and data collection to include even more universities!
Why We Created This Website
This project had its origin in our son’s college search. He knew he wanted to study Computer Science. To help narrow college options, we considered all the usual factors, such as academic reputation, cost, campus life, etc. We were also very interested in curriculum requirements, but we found it was difficult to understand the differences - not only in the core Computer Science curriculum, but also in the other requirements. So we began to systematically compare curricula across institutions. The comparisons were a valuable factor in our son’s college search process. We decided to share what we found, and to add even more programs so that other students and their families can benefit from our research when doing their own college searches.

Our goal is to create a space where it is easy, fast, and free for prospective freshmen to understand a university's curriculum requirements for a major and be able to compare it meaningfully to another university's curriculum requirements for the same major. We hope that prospective students will use curricula comparisons to help inform their decision making when it comes to schools to visit, apply to, or even accept an offer of admission to attend. We know that there are many factors that go into deciding on a school to consider, and we think that curriculum requirements should be one of those factors. We provide an easy way to broadly compare the curriculum requirements of majors, side by side, to help prospective students get a feel for how an academic program might align with their interests and goals.

Actual requirements may vary from student to student for a variety of reasons, and universities modify their courses and graduation requirements from time to time. Review the university's website and contact your admissions officer or academic advisor to verify university curriculum requirements and to clarify any particular circumstances specific to you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you decide which universities to include?
We started by including universities in the top 10-12 programs for each major, according to U.S. News & World Report rankings. We then standardized our list across our Computer Science related majors. If a university ranked in the top 10-12 for one of our Computer Science related majors, then that university was also included on our list for our other Computer Science related majors. (We only include information if a university actually offers the major, of course.) From there, we added universities with strong, well-regarded programs that we were already familiar with, because of our college-search experience that inspired this project. We're working on adding universities with top regional or state programs and we will continue to add programs, because really good programs sometimes don't make it to the top 10 nationally because, well, there can only be 10 in the top 10!
I'm a university official. Why isn't my school's program included?
We want to help prospective students easily and broadly explore options. We think curriculum is one of many factors they should consider when looking at potential schools. If you are a university official and would like to talk with us about your school's Computer Science or related program, reach out us at Contact@CSCurriculaCompare.com.
I'm a university official. You got something wrong about our program.
Our goal is to share accurate information. Please let us know what we got wrong , so that we can work together to make it right. Reach us at Contact@CSCurriculaCompare.com.
